THE HARRY SHANKS AWARD FOR LEADERSHIP IN DIVING
The Harry Shanks Award for Leadership in Diving is open to divers aged 18 to 45 who have made outstanding contributions to the world of diving.
Each Recipient of the Harry Shanks Award for Leadership in Diving will receive an engraved bronze statue and a $500 travel stipend to attend the awards ceremony. Recipients will be selected based on outstanding high standards of excellence and leadership. Note: the Harry Shanks Award for Leadership in Diving will not necessarily be presented annually; it will be presented only in years when a suitable candidate is selected.
APPLICATIONS:
Applications for 2007 must be received ELECTRONICALLY by July 31, 2007. Incomplete and late applications will not be accepted.
Applicants must submit:
I. Completed application below
II. Resume or CV
III. Two letters of recommendation from experts in your field, etc. Contact information for these people must also be supplied.
IV. A 1000 word essay describing your work and your career goals.
The fore mentioned items should be sent electronically as "Attachments". These documents must contain file extensions and be compatible and readable on a Windows platform. Biographies, goals and letters of recommendation can be sent as TEXT (.txt), WORD (.doc) or Acrobat (.pdf) files. For letters of recommendation in hardcopy format, we recommend using a scanner to reproduce/convert them into an electronic format. Scan them at 100 dpi (screen resolution) in black and white (NOT COLOR) and save them as JPG (.jpg) or Acrobat (.pdf) files.
HOW TO APPLY:
Select "FILE"... "SAVE AS"... use the default file name that appears... and select "TEXT FILE" (.txt) for the type of file. Select a location on your computer and click "SAVE". Open and complete this application in any word processing program.
To Submit: Email your application and requested support materials to: harryshanksaward@auas-nogi.org (in the preferred file formats listed above) ALL APPLICATION MATERIALS MUST BE SENT AS ONE COMPLETE PACKAGE.
Please maintain a copy of your completed application and all supporting materials. You should receive a response once your application has been received. Applicants will be notified in September, 2007. If a Recipient is selected for the award in 2007, the award ceremony will take place in Orlando, Fl, during the first week of November.
