Justin Hayes began scuba diving through AWANA and NASA camps. He attained numerous diving specialties and he has worked as an American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR Professional Rescuer. Hayes trained with hyperbaric treatment pioneer Dick Rutkowski at Hyperbarics International, Inc. in Key Largo, Florida and he is currently majoring in Biomedical Engineering at NCSU. Through NASA, Hayes is participating in the Divers Alert Network “Flying after Diving” study at Duke University and he has completed five medical mission trips to America and Africa with the e3partners organization. In the future, Hayes plans to work in hyperbaric medicine and he is seeking a co-op work study program with Hyperbarics of Raleigh.
